How this campaign handles your information

The short version

This website does not ask you for anything. If you choose to contact the campaign, ask for a lawn sign, volunteer or donate, we keep only what we need to follow up, we use it only for this campaign, and we never sell it or pass it to anyone outside the campaign except where election law requires.

What we collect, and why

• When you email or call. Your name, contact details and what you wrote, so we can reply.
• Lawn signs and volunteering. If a request form is added to this site: your name, address, email and phone, so a campaign volunteer can deliver a sign or get in touch about helping. Only volunteers who need the information to do that task see it.
• Campaign updates by email. If you sign up: your email address, used only to send you campaign news. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe.
• Donations. If donations are opened, election financing rules in British Columbia require the campaign's financial agent to record each contributor's name, address and the amount given. Contributions above the threshold set by Elections BC are reported to Elections BC, and the contributor's name and amount become part of the public record.

What the website itself records

• Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (your IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We do not use them to identify you.
• The site's typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your browser's request for those files.
• We do not use advertising trackers, and the site does not set cookies of its own. If we add analytics to count visitors, we will say so here.

How long we keep it

Contact, volunteer and sign requests are deleted after the election is over and the campaign's final filings are complete. Financial records are kept for as long as Elections BC requires.

Your choices

You can ask what information the campaign holds about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you can unsubscribe from campaign email at any time. Contact Dan directly and he will deal with it himself.
